About Kanata Race Day

A community event for the whole family
10K, 5K and 1K races & Tot Trot

Organized by Kanata North Councillor Cathy Curry, Kanata Race Day is one of a number of fundraising initiatives undertaken by the Councillor and the Kanata North Recreation Centre Inc. All proceeds support enhancements to the Richcraft Recreation Complex Kanata (RRCK) and its programming.

The original facility design called for just a 6-lane swimming pool and a small skateboard park. Fundraising has supported the addition of 2 swim lanes, creating an 8-lane pool suitable to meet the aquatic recreation needs of Kanata and West Carleton residents. The larger pool is now home to various swim clubs and teams, offers more swim lessons, and more opportunities for adult fitness swimming. Fundraising has also expanded the skateboard park, which now serves a large child, youth and adult population.

Without your support these worthwhile additions would not be possible.

While the RRCK is fully built and operating, we are still in need of fundraising dollars for additional youth program initiatives and improvements to the facility. Since 2015, KNRC has funded an outdoor nature appreciation program in the wooded March Highlands surrounding the facility through a unique Junior Ranger program initiated by former Kanata North Councillor, Marianne Wilkinson.
